| I feel like I'm just starting to get my feet back underneath me. Moving is hard work! Making the transition more difficult is the time I moved - right before the holidays. I was back and forth to home from, well, home 6 times in 9 weeks. Even though I have visited several churches, I have not gotten established in one or joined a small group where I can meet people. That is something to do, as soon as possible. I really miss the interaction I have at my parents' church. I have no idea how to get around. I feel like I could find my way to places much better in Chicago than Des Moines. I actually bought a map with all the streets on it. Completly out of desperation, after my sister and I couldn't find Blockbuster. Pathetic. It is helping, though. I have a lot more confidence! There is a lot of opportunity for me to enjoy myself here, and I can't even wait to get started. Just as I'm getting a little more settled, I might have to move again soon, and that doesn't seem at all appealing. Regardless, I'm very glad to be here! Update real quickly: I have quit Target and now work part time at the Clive Public Library. This job is more where I want to go with my career, but I still really like my job as a law librarian. My boss is quitting next week on Friday, and they will not be replacing her until late February at the very earliest. That means I will be on my own, in a field I've barely started to understand. Upside is I get her parking space until her job is filled, which hasn't even been posted as of today. | | |
| October 27 I am moving to Grimes, IA. I will start a new job at the Court of Appeals in Des Moines on Monday, and Tuesday I will start working at the Jordan Creek Target as a transfer. I get to live in a great house with two roommates and two adorable dogs (neither mine). I own lots and lots of new towels, thanks to my wonderful friends and my grandmother. I reupholstered a chair to put in my new room, and it's the coolest thing I own to date. I really can't describe how excited I am! This is the first time I've moved, lived semi-on-my-own, and had a decent job . I've waited a long time since graduating for this. Now that I'm finally in a job of my chosen career, I can't wait for things to start happening. Grad school is probably next, but first I have to save a little money. Or stop spending everything I make . It's weird. I always figured myself to be the one to stay in the home-town close to my parents, and my older brother the one to move away. Now he's buying a house in town and I'm going two hours south. Life if weird, right? | | |

| it's really weird to look a a picture of my little brother and realize that we have the same eyes. not much of anything else the same, but a funny little quirk that makes one eye scrunch up smaller when we smile. sometimes, i just love family. | | |
